Tigranakert Fortress (19th c.)

Tigranakert Fortress is located in Artsakh in the ancient city of the same name built by Armenian king Tigran the Great. Excavations of Tigranakert started in 2005. As for the fortress itself, it was built under Persian rule, in the 19th century. Nowadays the complex also houses a museum. Tigranakert is home to historically significant pieces dating from the 5th century BC to the 17th century AD, displayed in the museum.
