The fortress of Meghri is located in the city of Meghri, Syunik Province. Meghri fortress was first mentioned in 1083. It was completely reconstructed in the 18th century. Uniqueness of the fortress is explained by the fact it has no walls. The fortress is built on the top of a mountain range, the inclined sides of which stands as the walls of the fortress. With its architectural composition Meghri fortress is a unique example of Armenian fortification technique.
