Halidzor Castle

Location: Syunik Province

Distance from Yerevan:  310 km / 6.5 hours

Halidzor castle, founded in the 17th century, is also known as Halidzor Convent/Hermitage. The complex includes the main St. Minas church, gavit, hall, residence area, balcony, service rooms, dining hall, gates (south/north), west tower and a separate church to the east.

The fortress was used by freedom fighter Davit Bek during the defensive fights against Ottoman Turks in the 18th century. He is believed to be buried at the fortress.
